I am a professional sports photographer looking to encourage student athletes as they perform on the court, on the field or in any area of life.
If we’re honest, it can be discouraging to lose, maybe overwhelming to some. As parents or coaches, we tell the kids to keep their head up, keep working, keep trying, but even with all of that, for some, it’s still very difficult to see the progress they are making. That’s why I wanted to take their pictures. I wanted the players to see their progress, their improvement, their ability to overcome and be successful. To see them smile as they play is the ultimate outcome, and I couldn’t be happier to see the outcome of some of these photos.
As my child plays, there have also been many times when I find myself focusing on those players whose parents may not be on the sidelines. For those, it is two-sided: make sure they know someone is watching and encouraging at all times, and to allow their loved ones to see them in action even when they can’t be there in person. At the end of the day, I hope that what I do encourages these young people to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be.
